No Protection without Proper Installation September 2, 2010 Mack W. Jackson (http://www.mjsg.com/) Product would not completely install. This was an upgrade. After about 10 days it deactivated itself and left my pc open to attack. Attempts to do a web correction with customer support assistance were aggregating as heck. Rather than going right to the problem posted to initiate the support session they asked me unrelated questions and attempted to steer me toward paid support. McAfee Total Protection 1User 2010: $23.27, Total Time to Implement: 14 days, Total Pain: Immeasurable, Total Future Purchase of McAfee Software: Zero Dollars.
Seemed good at first, but then.... August 23, 2010 Timothy O'Brien (Chicago) Seemed good at first, ran quietly in background, kept itself updated. But then I developed a startup problem, took for service, and found the problem was caused by McAfee! Tech deleted the program, now all is well. Like a chump I had recently renewed the service. McAfee won't even talk about refunding, so my choices are to either reinstall a program that messed up my computer or eat the subscription charge. I might consider reinstalling if tech support were more responsive, but they're not, so that's where they've left me. My tech recommended Bit Defender, guess I'll try that next.
DO NOT BUY June 23, 2010 G. Gourley (SPRINGFIELD, MO, US) DO NOT BUY THIS VIRUS PROTECTION PROGRAM. On April 21 2010 McAfee trashed computers all over the country with a download that replaced a critical XP system file. I spent 6 hours on hold and 30 hours rebuilding my system. The CEO David DeWalt promised a free two-year subscription to affected users. Today, I got a renewal notice from McAfee. What? Customer Service said I had a window from May 10 until May 31 and I missed the deadline. I had called on May 5 and was told they would have a link from the web site but neglected to say it would be a limited time offer. There are many freeware and shareware programs that do a great job.
Retired June 5, 2010 R. Hansen (USA) This product almost brought my PC to a complete hault. It was taking minutes to change screens. I removed the product from my PC after five days. I would never buy this product again.
competitive antivirus software. May 1, 2010 Maria E. Villegas It is more than just basic antivirus protection and it's fairly easy to install and get all setup.
